August Cellars is a family owned winery created in 2002 by the Clarence Schaad Family.  The winery is located on land bought by Clarence Schaad in 1942 and is named in honor of their forefather, August Schaad, who emigrated from the Black Forest region of Southern Germany to the U.S. in the 1890's to across the highway from here, on Parrett Mountain in the local community of Rex. The winery is located on Chehalem Mountain, which is part of the new AVA Chehalem Ridge.

August Cellars produces approximately 2500 cases per year, including Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Riesling & Maréchal Foch (a cross breed between European and American grape varieties producing a dark rich red wine along the lines of a Merlot). And it is home to 5 other wineries: Artisanal Wine Cellars, Crowely Wines, Et Fille, Laura Volkman Cellars and Toluca Lane.
The goal of the winery is two fold: first, to create a great wine for a great price; second, to continue the legacy of our family farm -- preserving it for future generations.

Our tasting room is open daily from May until the end of October, 11-5 p.m.. We are open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday year round. Our tasting fee is $10.00 refundable with the purchase of two bottles of wine. We are open 11-5 Daily
