After working in Tuscany for Tenuta di Trinoro and then on Mt Etna in Sicily for Passopisciaro, Luke returned to Washington and embarked on his own planting vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon/Malbec/Petit Verdot) in Eastern Washington at Horse Heaven Hills and the Columbia Gorge (Riesling) . Cor flaunts an airy new prairie-style tasting room boasting an imposing basalt fireplace that looks like a Dwell mag cover (roaring fireplace, Mt Hood view), with crowd-pleasing cab francs and a ripe red blend. “We have this extreme ability to delight and surprise,” says Cor wine club manager Cat Kaczynski. “Nobody knows about us yet.” Established in 2006, COR makes five wines:
