Johan
Johan Vineyards is a certified-Biodynamic estate vineyard and winery, located in the Van Duzer Corridor A V A. They believe the sense of place, the essence of their farm, is best expressed through their deep commitment to Biodynamic farming practices, native-yeast fermentation, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The goal is to create a self-sustained holistic farm system with the energy to produce an honest expression of itself, to share with others.
Johan Vineyards is within the newly established Van Duzer Corridor A V A. The unique growing conditions within their viticultural area yield wine grapes with a compelling expression of Oregon’s sense of place.
Their site is affected by the unapologetic and persistent coastal winds. Daily, the sun heats the valley floor and causes a “heat-sink” effect. This differential draws maritime air through the coast range, directly across their site.
While most of the experiences take place between their winery and vineyard, they have a vast 175-acre property, which most people do not have the chance to fully experience. There's a short, 1 mile walking trail, with a few cleared sections for picnics, and for adventurers to explore. Beginning at the winery, the self-guided trail moves along the vineyard towards the western plantings, following along the "secret" pond. Walk the Pond Trail, but contact them prior to ensure adequate distance for parties on the trail. Close-toed shoes are an absolute must, be ready to experience new perspectives of the vineyard that we're previously only enjoyed by their vineyard crew.
