Patty Green and Jim Anderson founded this landmark winery in 2000, before the Ribbon Ridge AVA was on the map. After years of new plantings (and replantings) of the 52-acre estate, their vineyard is one of the best in the neighborhood. This vintage, the estate’s 17th, shows off the site’s powerful old-vine character, with minerality, subtle tannins, bold ripe raspberries, and spice.

At Patricia Green Cellars, the quest to capture a sense of place in each bottle of pinot noir borders on the obsessive: The winery releases between 18 and 20 pinots each year, in an effort to express the distinct characteristics of various sites. At a Patricia Green Cellars open house, you'll find wines arranged on tables according to the location of the vineyard they're derived from.
Their Medici blocks, date back to the original 1976, of Pommard, planted in Jory soils. And to a 1980 planting of Chardonnay, that was grafted to Dijon 777, in the late 1990s. The combination of the 2 makes for a truly old vines experience.
Their 2 other vineyards, Lia's, and Olenik, also in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, are planted in marine sedimentary soils."
