Their winery was established on their beautiful flagship estate vineyard, located in the Chehalem Mountains A-V-A, just outside of Newberg, Oregon.
The vines were planted in 1980, on two and a half acres, making them some of the oldest vines in the Chehalem Mountain A-V-A.
In 2000, Privé Vineyard began making wines that showcased the rare, old vine Pommard Clone Pinot Noir.
In 2021 Privé Vineyard purchased a beautiful 13 acre Pinot Noir vineyard in Ribbon Ridge A-V-A, to further the quest of making beautiful wines from remarkable ter wahr.
Let me know, if you want to learn about ter wahr, the Chehalem Mountains A-V-A, or the Ribbon Ridge A-V-A.
At Privé Vineyard, your arrival will be signaled, by two aged wine barrels out front, next to a sign reading, “Rue de Privé”, meaning private street.
And that will indicate, you have found a slice of France, in the Chehalem Mountains.
Behind the gate, and straddled on the northern and southern side of the home, sits two well-groomed old vine one acre vineyards.
A sport court and a boules court, or Bocce court, surrounded by lavender, indicates some fun is to be had here.
Heading up the driveway, you will be taken by the cutest little French-styled winery you have ever seen.
The owner and winemaker, and viticulturist of Privé Vineyard, Piper Underbrink, is American, but a true, what the French say, vēn-ye-rōn.
Let me know if you want to learn more about what a vēn-ye-rōn is.
Her Privé Vineyard, is every bit French in name (“private or independent”), and character.
On the north side of the house, is the Le Nord vineyard.
And on the south side, is the Le Sud vineyard, a little lower in elevation.
You might say, it's an experiment, in how elevation, can affect otherwise identical vines.
Now let's hear Piper talk about her wines.
Welcome to, Privé Vineyard & Winery.
