Proteus
Proteus winery says, Greetings!
Proteus Wines is a tiny, but purposeful estate, creating boutique, lovingly-crafted vintages from grapes grown from the rich volcanic soils of Oregon’s Chehalem Mountain range. Small-batch and hand-hewn, their wines are exactly those they’ve enjoyed drinking over the years and sharing with their friends. Which is just how Proteus came to be.
Share in their passion for boutique, traditionally-crafted wine. Harvesting, maturation, and cellaring – the entire process unfolds right there, on a southeast facing ridge overlooking a scenic, concealed swale of the Chehalem Mountains.
EXPERIENCE PROTEUS
Be guided by Proteus’ owner or winemaker/ resident sommelier, through one of the estate vineyard blocks, to consider how the local geology, soils, and sustainable vine health practices endow the traditions and philosophies.
Then, make a brief stop in the winery to appreciate how small scale wine production differs from large commercial winery operations.
Then, from their picturesque deck, savor a flight of current releases, delve further into what connects art and science in the glass.
Their hope is that this unique and very personal tasting approach be fun, memorable, and leave you confidently more informed in the unfolding enigma, that is wine.
