Wine Country One & Two Day Tour

Day One Sample Itinerary - Times Approximate

10:30 - 11:30AM

Pick-up for your Wine Country tour at your downtown Portland hotel or wine country area.  Head south on U.S. 5 to the first winery stop in the Newberg/Dundee Region of Yamhill County, the birthplace of Oregon's wine industry.

11:15 - 12:00PM

Arrive at your first winery stop and enjoy tasting a variety of Oregon Wines at Rex Hill, 4 Graces, Argyle or another Yamhill County winery. And stroll the grounds and take some pictures among the vines.

11:45 - 2:30 PM

Pick up our picnic lunch in downtown Newberg or Dundee. Continue on your wine tour with approximately 2-4 more wineries.

3:30 - 4:00PM

Check into your hotel, drop off your bags and relax for the afternoon at the hotel pool, spa or bar or just take a walk and enjoy the rest of the day on your own with another wine stop at one of the various wine tasting rooms in the old town McMinnville area. Wine bars and restaurants galore line Third Street, but the town's charm is as much on display at Serendipity Ice Cream as at any wine dispensary. The same goes for La Bella Casa, Ranch Records, Currents Gallery or Mes Amies.
The city's many small, owner-operated shops, sort of a boutique row, make McMinnville's core as much of a Yamhill Valley wine destination as the nearby vineyards of the Dundee Hills, the tasting rooms of Carlton or the glitzy Allison Inn and Spa in Newberg.
It's also a dining destination, now that Bon Appétit, the national food magazine, has named McMinnville one of the country's six best small towns for food lovers.
Civic boosters make the claim that McMinnville's Third Street is Oregon's favorite "main street." The same might be said about Oak Street in Hood River or Bond Street in Bend, but it's hard to argue against the allure of McMinnville.

Evening

You can stay out late, because you don’t have to commute. Stores and restaurants are open “late”, but check times to make sure. Get a good night’s sleep so you can start refreshed the next day.

Wine Country Two Day Tour

Day Two Sample Itinerary - Times Approximate

(If you booked a one day tour and you did not drive yourself to the wine country lodging, then you would need to schedule with My Chauffeur transportation back to the Portland area.  If you booked a 2 day wine tour, then below illustrates what your 2nd day may look like.)

8:00 - 9:00 AM

Start the day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel.

8:00 - 9:00 AM

Start the day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel.

9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Check your bags at your hotel and spend the morning on your own. This is a good day to do some shopping at the DT McMinnville specialty shops, or just rent a bike and explore beautiful Willamette Wine Country.  Specialty shops include Hidden Treasures (546 Third) for eclectic home furnishings, Found Objects (512 Third) and La Bella Casa (406 Third), which also has Sage Restaurant upstairs. Side-by-side Mes Amies (522 Third) and Accessory Appeal (520 Third) satisfy the fashion-conscious. Harvest Fresh Grocery and Deli (251 Third) is sort of a mini-New Seasons, while NW Food and Gifts (445 Third) has gourmet food and crafts from around Oregon. Both have good wine selections. Currents Gallery (532 Third), a co-op, is the main art gallery downtown, with affordable local art in a variety of media. Third Street Books (334 Third) sells them new and used. Ranch Records (314 Third) is the place to buy something more expensive than a fine bottle of Oregon pinot noir: a Beatles' "Love Me Do" single for $250.
Tommy's Bike Shop (624 Third) is a full-service store, except for rentals. The clerk said cyclists expecting to ride to surrounding wineries soon find roads to be curvy, steep and gravel. Better to enjoy a morning road ride (look for suggestions at www.tommysbicycle.net), then drive to the vineyards.

1:00 - 1:30 PM

Gather your bags from the hotel and meet your driver.

IMPORTANT: CALL MY CHAUFFEUR AT 503-969-4370 TO CONFIRM PICK-UP TIME! THIS IS IMPORTANT, BECAUSE WE MAY HAVE SET UP APPOINTMENTS.

2:00 - 4:00 PM

Continue to the second day of Wine Tasting. Visit 2-3 more wineries and enjoy tasting at the wineries and enjoy the views of the surrounding hills.

4:00 - 4:45 PM

Start the return and head back to Portland or to your wine country destination, taking a little detour through the quaint town of Dundee to one last tasting room.

4:45 - 5:00 PM

Top off a great day with a photo stop high above the valley, overlooking the Coastal Range and Cascade Mountains with an amazing view of the Willamette Valley farmlands.

5:00 - 6:00 PM

Get dropped-off at your hotel in Portland or the wine country.
