SCOTT PAUL WINES – Winemaker Scott Paul says, “I prefer to walk the other road. The road that leads you to respect what nature provided in the vineyard. The road that says the wine is better off when left to its own devices. The road that values letting Pinot Noir be the delicate, ethereal, complex and sensory delight that only Pinot Noir can be. The road that led me to work with Pinot Noir, rather than Zinfandel, Syrah, or Cabernet. We believe that Pinot Noir is the most complex, aromatic, perfumed, subtle, and sensuous wine on the planet.
Try their 2012 La Paulée; ($39), 91 pts., which is one of the 5 Hot Oregon Pinots to try NOW... Over the past nine vintages, this cuvée has a proven track record for quality, with an average score of 91.
Every bottle bearing my Scott Paul label contains true, authentic Oregon Pinot Noir. My wines are not manipulated. The aromas and flavors in the wines come only from the grapes, and the sun and the earth that grew them. My goal is maximum transparency of flavor. My quest is to produce Pinot Noir with flavors that are delineated and pure.
We believe that Pinot Noir is the most complex, aromatic, perfumed, subtle, and sensuous wine on the planet. We believe in doing everything possible in the vineyards and the winery to capture that elegance and finesse, and all the inherent sensual qualities. Our tasting room is housed in a restored circa-1915 creamery, while the adjacent winery building was once a granary. In 2006, we launched a Burgundy import division, and offer select Burgundies alongside our Oregon Pinots in our tasting room. “
