Styring
Enjoy Summer Afternoons at Styring!
At Styring Vineyards, they believe in crafting artisan wines which began in 2003 on a 40-acre parcel of unfarmed land in the Ribbon Ridge AVA.
They are an authentic family owned and operated vineyard and winery using sustainable and organic farming principles – "because, they say, we live on the farm and because it’s the right thing to do." They are micro in scale, growing just over ten acres of grapes and producing around 1,500 cases per year. This is typified by their small case production from limited varietals that love the Willamette Valley as much as we do. When you visit the farm, walk the fields, meet the family, taste the wines, tour the cave and have a good time.
The Styring name is Viking in origin, documented back to the Year 700 A.D. Styr the Strong was father to Ragnar Lodbrok. They are Lodbrok’s direct descendants through his son Bjorn “Ironsides.” The history is muddled but their descendants left Denmark and Sweden to take what is now Sheffield, England. Their family history in England is linked with farming as far back as 1100 A.D.
They produce dry, flavorful whites; complex, structured reds; and fruity, balanced dessert wines. Each hand-crafted wine is wonderful to enjoy immediately or, when carefully cellared, robust enough for the best collections. Specializing in Pinot Noir and Riesling Varietals.
YOUR $15 TASTING FEE IS REFUNDABLE PER BOTTLE PURCHASED.
We should be leaving here by _____________ (to be on time for our next appt) (to be at your drop-off location by ________). Remember to take care of your tasting fee and/or wine purchase by this time.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY 12 - 4PM JUNE THROUGH SEPTEMBER OR BY APPT.
"We are open to the public on a very limited basis, by appointment only. We are also open at Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day and the Saturday before Valentine's Day for open house 11 - 5. We do not sell in stores. We are a craft winery, growing and producing award-winning wines and pouring them ourselves on our beautiful farm.
For drivers on tour, we ask that you bring those who you think will have a true interest in wine and possibility to purchase. We try to avoid groups that are out indulging in alcohol because they have driver or a special occasion (bachelorette party for example) to celebrate. Not that we avoid celebrations as long as there is an actual interest in wine. We ask this because for you we charge NO tasting fee at all and we open many expensive bottles for each tasting. We know they may or may not buy and it's our job to impress them. We are also an extremely warm and friendly operation in a beautiful setting. We are frequently the favorite choice on a tour with multiple stops. And so few people know about us, it positions you as "in the know" about the area and secret gems, so to speak. So, no fee but we do ask that you bring us the tours that are a good fit for what we do here. That's a win win."
The best way to schedule appointments is to call or TEXT Steve at 503-866-6741 with name, date, time and # in your group. That's his cell # and he does respond to that more quickly than email. :)
The Styring cottage in Carlton is open Saturday's 11-4.
Cheers and Happy Holidays.
