Good 'Ol Ribbon Ridge hospitality!
In 1988, Whistling Ridge cleared 10 acres of mostly walnut and fir trees to make way for planting grape vines in the Ribbon Ridge (AVA) in Willakenzie silty clay loam (loess), which is windblown volcanic ash...
Their winemaker's "let it be" philosophy allows the natural beauty of the fruit to take center stage. They build a perfectly balanced wine around its natural evolution, without manipulation; using little new oak. The oak he does use is for aging to add texture rather than flavor, allowing the fruit flavor to predominate. His winemaking process results in wines that allow the terroir to shine through.
They have more than 15 acres of vines including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. On their North site you will find their boutique winery that rests in the scenic Chehalem Valley countryside. All of their bottlings are estate wines with the unique Ribbon Ridge character. They plan to keep their style as a boutique winery with current production under 1000 cases.
Open 12-4 Saturday and Sunday and by appointment. Once you find them you'll notice plenty of parking, some cheeses and crackers to sample with their world-class wines served with good 'Ol Ribbon Ridge hospitality! $5.00 Tasting Fee - waived with any wine purchase.
