Columbia River Gorge Tour w/White Water Rafting
View All Custom Gorge Tour Itineraries
The Deschutes River runs through mountain forested nature and is located only 1½ hours from the greater Portland area! In addition to being one of the most scenic rivers in all of Oregon, there is no better river for those living in or visiting the Portland area for fun, adventure, and convenience. The full-day rafting adventure begins with a short drive to the launch site. From there, your professional guides will introduce the Deschutes River to you with a safety talk and orientation. The first excitement of the day begins right away with over a mile of great pool and drop style rapids. The middle portion of the trip is fairly calm and is a great chance to unwind, relax or go for a swim. The last four miles of the trip are filled with the most challenging and fun rapids of the day. After the trip, we transport you back to your vehicle. Visit River Drifters for details. Whitewater Rafting on the White Salmon River - Enjoy the wild beauty of White Salmon River, where last year's dam removal has created a new landscape to explore. Contact Wet Planet Rafting or Zoller's Outdoor Odysseys for the experience of a lifetime.
A Trailhead Release Agreement form is required from each member of the group (see below *). Be prepared to hike alone or with your group alone. Be prepared for inclement weather (rain, snow, cold, etc.) during winter time tours.
* While we consider this tour to be completely safe; in wilderness areas, possible wilderness dangers are always present. If you plan on hiking on any trails, a Trailhead Release Agreement form will be required for your tour. This hike is not recommended for children or pets. Though the Eagle Creek trail is continually within earshot of running water, you should plan on carrying your own supply. The cliff sections are extremely exposed, so anyone subject to vertigo should proceed carefully, and turn back if the first set of cliffs are uncomfortable... they only get higher, and more exposed! If you have any apprehensions about nature hiking and/or nature areas, you should not do this hike.
The elevation gain to the 2-mile mark is modest, with gradual climbs spread throughout the hike. However, the trail surface is often rocky and uneven, and anything less than a good pair of hiking shoes or boots is not adequate. Also keep in mind that the Columbia Gorge is home to poison oak, and it grows along some sections of the Eagle Creek trail. If you're susceptible to it, keep an eye out in sunny, open cliff-tops and open oak forests. Long pants are a good idea is you're particularly sensitive.
